Cycle Action Waiheke

This is the site for Cycle Action Waiheke - we advocate for cyclists on Waiheke Island. All bikes are good bikes, so whether you’re on an e-bike or on a fully human-powered bike for day-to-day cycling or you’re a sporty cyclist who likes roads or gravel or mountain biking, OR you would simply like your kids to ride to school safely, we are your community.

We believe bikes are climate action and that having genuine active transport options can help us live happier and healthier lives. Mostly we believe that you’re always just one bike ride away from a happier mood.

We organise events and social rides on Waiheke Island and have created the Waiheke Bike Map and set up Bikebox Waiheke.

We are a bike burb of Bike Auckland and an original member of the Cycle Action Network.

A map by Waiheke local cyclists for those wanting to explore Waiheke by bike!

Waiheke is a beloved visitor destination, with beautiful swimmable beaches and vineyards to visit and a passenger ferry as the main access point for most tourists. All these factors make bikes a wonderful option to get around for a day of recreation and fun on the island.

Cycling on Waiheke is not without its challenges, aside from the hills and narrow roads, the bike infrastructure is few and far between, and any lanes are usually on the busier roads, which as a visiting cyclist may prefer to avoid. To help you plot your path as you discover the island, we have created this map.

Pick up a copy of this A2 printed map from BikeBox, any of the tourism information points or any of the bike businesses mentioned in the map.
